Hello!
Here is a blog to share writing, prompts, feedback, etc.
First prompt:
How can we make this a nurturing creative space?
Respond in comments, 150 words or less.
And we're off!!

I plan to specify what kind of criticism I am looking for. New work can be a fragile thing, and there are parts of it/me that are not ready for discussion.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I offer myself as an off-the-blog copy editor for anyone who wants detailed analysis and review. I am quite good at this, but the piece and the author need to be ready and willing for intense editing.
Ditto what Ruth said - criticism can be risky business, when you show someone your writing it's like putting a piece of yourself on the line. Though if someone asks for their material to be honestly workshopped they ought to be ready for it to be picked apart or even torn to ribbons (though of course nothing in this project should be mean-spirited or anything but helpful)
ReplyDeleteAlso, we could start a thread to share links to writing we like, material that doesn't necessarily belong to any of us... especially at the start I think it would help get things moving
Thanks, Ruti! Thanks, Birdie! I feel nurtured already. And I have nothing to add beyond the following: we can make this a more creative space by posting in it! Prolifically, preferably! I understand La Vie stands in the way, and writing is not a priority, but as I fully intend on using tqven as outside motivation to write, if you post, it'll remind me to post.
ReplyDelete2 Qs:
1. Any of you write anything on "paper" yet? And by "on," I mean "about." If paper is simply uninspiring, do suggest other prompts and run with 'em.
2. Who's Corvus Marinus?
